For our second edition, we spoke with Photo Museum Ireland Curator Darren Campion about his recommended reading list for Photo Museum Ireland's current exhibition Afterimage: Photography in the Digital Age. Afterimage brings together a selection of cutting-edge work by Irish and international artists exploring the material land conceptual transformations that have profoundly altered our sense of what a photograph is and can be.

1. Afterimage: Photography in the Digital Age Exhibition Catalogue
"The first selection from our bookshop is the catalogue for the exhibition, which features an overview of all of the artists, and information about their work and their biographies to give some background on their practices. It also introduces the exhibition with an essay to contextualise the various practices and curatorial rationale behind it."
2. The Synthetic Eye: Photography Transformed in the Age of AI, Fred Richtin
"The second book to go along with the exhibition is Fred Richtin's The Synthetic Eye. This is a really interesting overview of issues around photography and digital technology that feeds into some of the themes that are explored throughout the exhibition."
3. Invasive Links, Michael Schäfer
"Lastly we have Michael Schäfer's Invasive Links, which features in the Afterimage exhibition. It's a collection of work and also critical texts that frame Schäfer's practice and some of the pressing issues that relate to the intersection of digital technology and photography. The copies that we have for sale in the bookshop are actually signed, so now is a great opportunity to get a really special publication."
