He would return home to Ireland annually, photographing against the backdrop of Nephin mountain. In 1978 he moved to Merseyside and spent the next 25 years there creating many of his best-known pictures, primarily street photographs. Throughout this period, he was also working on a long-term study of the west of Ireland, and the wider landscape of his birthplace and childhood. Family connections are woven throughout the book but never explained. The Irish work was initially edited by Peter Finnemore, in 2013 for the exhibition ‘Tom Wood: Landscapes’ which was show in Mostyn, Wales and Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris. Wood revisited this work during the lockdowns of the 2020 pandemic and added in seven additional years of photographs from subsequent visits to Ireland. Over 400 new images were edited down to those in the book and sequenced by Timoney, a frequent visual collaborator. That was in 2013, and since then, against the backdrop of everyday farming life, photography and my relationship to it has taken many twists and turns. In the beginning, I welcomed it for its ability to help me navigate the chaos of intense grief. Later, I resented it for making light of or romanticising such a tragic period in my life, in our lives. Sometime later, I surmised that if photography was going to make things better, or serve any function at all, then it had better be put to work. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eChanging course, I began to use photography in conjunction with routine farm tasks. I embarked on a series of self-portraits over an entire farming year. I made lists. I wrote stories. I compiled inventories of animals, rocks, water troughs, stakes and gates. I assembled these photographs into small logbooks which acted like micro manuals for survival. I became obsessed with a tree which, over time, became a huge source of comfort, a place that I consistently returned to time and time again when I was trying to find my way.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTomorrow is Sunday is the sum of all of these paths. This book represents an attempt to make sense of that time. Although there are food banks, all the living rooms, lounges and kitchens are lovely.
