Description

A garment is never just a soul-less object, but an extension of the human condition;
a surface of meaning and identity that protects, contains, and declares who we are in the world. Cipria is an independent photographic artbook dealing with fashion. Born & raised to explore the subtle boundary between being and appearing, translating into images the semantic relationship that links clothing to the way we inhabit space and time.

Five chapters unfold as a temporal climax, from childhood games to high school years, moving to ornamental trinkets & interactions shaped by the modern zeitgeist. Across a naïve taste, retro-nostalgia & contemporary language, this volume offers an intimate &
personal gaze into the feminine universe in all its infinite facets.

The title itself evokes an unsubstantial & lightweight material such as face powder, so thin that floats through the air, but so crucial in the make-up process, just like garments;
capable of leaving a quiet yet persistent trace, declaring their presence in the world, on the edge between protection & statement. Just as face powder evens out & sets makeup with a subtle finish, this volume acts as a medium, translating the author’s personal way of seeing things into a visual manifesto.
