FOLLOW THE MOSKVA, Paddy Kiernan

"Paddy Kiernan's latest zine, 'FOLLOW THE MOSKVA', brings the viewer on a tour through Kiernan's documentation of everyday life in Moscow. Through spontaneous and, at times, playful observations, the black-and-white images present an unrefined yet contemplative view of the post-soviet metropolis, its people, its scale, and its history.
'FOLLOW THE MOSKVA' provides a contrasting sense of familiarity and curiosity through the zine. From a parent pausing by the Moskva river bank watching a tourist boat slowly trawl down the river with their child on a sunny afternoon; a woman daydreaming while staring at the reflective tiles in a subway station; to a street corner lined with soldiers standing at qual intervals casting long shadows on the empty footpath in front of them. We view these scenes simultaneously from the perspective of an outsider, and as someone who passes these streets on a regular basis." (Words by Jonathan Ho.)
