Saoirse don Phalaistín: A Witness to Solidarity, Hasan Yıkıcı

Description

"I came to Dublin on a Saturday in February 2024. The next day, when I went out to explore the city, one of the first things that excited me was the Palestinian protest in front of the GPO. At that time, I was not yet aware that there was such a strong solidarity movement with Palestine in Ireland. Days and months passed, and over time, I witnessed how the Irish people have built a very strong and deep-rooted solidarity movement both in everyday life and through actions and protests. Over the course of one and a half years, I tried to capture this, witnessing in various ways through photography. I met wonderful and powerful people; mothers leading every demonstration at the front, young people who always kept their excitement high, elderly people with smiling eyes participating in ever major march, immigrants living in Dublin and those who came here from various countries around the world. The anti-colonial tendencies of the Irish form the historical background of the Palestinian solidarity movement that exists today with all its diversity. This small book is dedicated to everyone who is part of this movement to the children of Gaza." (Words by Hasan Yıkıcı.)
