Shane Lynam Pebbledash Wonderland catalogue

Description

Shane Lynam: Pebbledash Wonderland Catalogue
With essays by Darren Campion and Aidan Kelly Murphy

Designed and produced by Photo Museum Ireland, this beautiful publication accompanies Shane Lynam’s Pebbledash Wonderland (2014–2024), a decade-long photographic exploration of Dublin’s evolving urban landscape. The exhibition, also developed and presented by Photo Museum Ireland, marks the culmination of a two-year exhibition development residency with the museum.

Pebbledash Wonderland is Lynam’s third major body of work, following the acclaimed Fifty High Seasons (2018) and Contours (2013). This latest series reflects his sustained engagement with Dublin’s architecture and communities, capturing the city’s transformation from post-crisis recovery to its current era of rapid multinational-driven growth. Lynam’s images document the shifting textures of a city in flux, revealing the interplay between its established neighbourhoods and new developments.

Far from being a critique of urban change, Pebbledash Wonderland is a deeply personal work. Through repeated walks and photographic encounters, Lynam offers an abstracted, intuitive portrait of Dublin that straddles the boundary between observation and participation. This publication, featuring essays by Darren Campion, Curator, Photo Museum Ireland, and Aidan Kelly Murphy, invites readers to experience Lynam’s vision—an imaginative journey through a city seen not only in its physical forms but in its emotional textures and everyday rhythms.
