I remember sitting on my dad’s lap in the crowded, smoke-filled waiting room anticipating a much-needed Christmas haircut. Kids were lifted onto the tall stool, where we would sit
quietly, wondering what had happened to the goldfish that once swam in the algae-filled tank. We often joked about getting sprinkles of cigarette ash on our clothes, and sometimes we did. Time stood still in his barbershop; his prices never changed, nor did the decor. Two weeks before Dick was forced to retire due to a fall, I captured these images. Dick passed away on August 31st, 2018. This book is dedicated to his memory and his wonderful barbershop."
